DAPPER COLLECTIONS

DELIVERABLES: Primary Logo, Mascot Illustration, Alternate Logo, Badge Logo, Lettermark Logo
Dapper Collections is a sports card trading social media account. They came to me wanting to expand the brand to not only card trading but also clothing, potentially a soccer training program and more sports related content. They felt the first step in achieving this goal was to redesign the overall brand.
They wanted their new logo and branding to be high-end and classy yet strike a balance that also keeps the brand casual, practical and approachable to their target audience of young football fans.
Overall inspiration for the rebrand was taken from high-end brands like Ralph Lauren, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger that all have sporting roots. These brands have that sense of luxury, whilst also not being too expensive.
THE MASCOT DESIGN (LEO)
For the mascot of the brand, we decided to go with Leo (The brand owner’s dog). Using Leo makes the brand more personal and gives it a sense of familiarity and a friendly face makes the brand more approachable. To tie the logo in with its soccer roots, we added a jersey to Leo and included a football in his mouth.
The design of Leo’s illustration was important, as we needed to keep it simple enough to keep it looking sleek and modern, and to make sure it works as a smaller scale logo. It also needed to have enough detail for it to be recognisable as Leo.
TYPOGRAPHY & ALTERNATE LOGOMARKS
For the main typography of the logo we used script lettering for ‘Dapper’ that has a high quality, hand-crafted feel. Accompanied by a simple, sans-serif ‘Collections’ that curves around the cursive letters to compliment them.
For the alternate logos of the brand, we kept within the sports theme and made a couple circle badges with Leo and one with a monogram of ‘DC’ for Dapper Collections.
